I am assuming you can know how to remove the wheels and have a basic set of tools. Similar steps are for the other brake calipers (ie for the rear)
NOTE: this is for informational only; I will not be responsible if you break something.
I am painting my caliper RED, (I highly recommend using the spray can type, since they dry a lot quicker than regular paint.
Notes: I recently repaint the caliper (front and back) with caliper paint
(from PebBoys) this specialized spray can cost around $6 (give an very high
gloss, a lot nicer)
Things you will need:
Step 1: Raise the car up, 1 side at a time
(don’t forget remove the wheel lock first, then loose all the wheel nuts
before you completely raise the car/wheel up). Remove the wheel
Step 2: Clean the caliper with the brake
cleaner (the carburetor cleaner can is use to clean the unwanted paint
only, don’t use it on the brake) and use metal brush for better cleaning
(don’t the name for it)
Step 3: Cover up part of your car really well with plastic, newspaper…etc. Showed below and start painting.
I did around 4 coats, 15-30 min a part
Step 4: I did not wait. After the last coat, I carefully remove the plastic/newspaper cover and reinstall the wheel back. (Carefully, don’t let the wheel touch the paint, or you can just wait for the paint to dry.
NOW. For those you have plenty of time and want
to do it right, can remove the whole caliper and paint it outside, but
I think you will achieve the same effect and waste a lot more time
Front brake (supra)
Rear Brake (supra)
This is how you remove the caliper; you can you this same instruction to remove the brake pads if you want to change your pads also
Step 1: There are 4 bolts that hold the Supra caliper together; they are on the back of the caliper, use 14mm wrench (I don’t remember exactly)
Label showed in the picture
After you remove the caliper you can paint them
outside or replace the brake pad
NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT
